Early signs for the coming snowboard season are all good. From the look of this shot taken earlier this week in Avoriaz French Alps the snow is good and more on the horizon.

switch-foot night in LCB Surf Store

Hi Guys

We are hosting a night of Surf, Art and Music this Saturday August 26th from 5pm till late. The night is dedicated to Switch-foot a new surfing publication out of Australia. With a heavy leaning towards the non-competitive side of surfing, this 210 page hardcover book is a real collectors item, with many of the immortal surfing images from the golden era in surfing from photographers such as Albe Falzon, George Greenough and Jack Eden.

Sketch Holiday will be on site doing book signings and live art as well as having a number of pieces of art exhibited around the store. There will also be a showing of Dolphin Glide - a film by George Greenough.

Its a BYOB affair ( sorry, no license ) However Coffee, tea, smoothies etc will be available to buy.

So as you may notice, there are lots of new blogs about fun new stock. We got loads of that...why?? Because there is soo much more room!! Pete and Mark knocked down a few walls and turned what used to be a very messy (sorry guys) stockroom, into a seriously cool new retail area. Instead of boxes and boring paperwork, we've got WESC clothing, NIXON watches, SPY sunnies, ANALOG and GRAVIS bags, LUSH longboards and other skate decks from BAKER/ALIEN WORKSHOP/DOGTOWN, DAKINE bags and luggage...seriously, all that in one room...and we've still got loads of room in the front for all the new REEF & GRAVIS sandals, DUFF and GRAVIS trainers...lots of WESC and ANALOG denim and clothing for both guys and girls...the list goes on and on and on...

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Things are looking a bit like they did when I first met Mark and Pete...various drills and bits of wood lying around, the two of them slightly covered in sawdust-saws in hand. LCB is under construction...but this time it's all out the back, so the shop is still open and I'm hiding the sounds of hammering with loads of fun upbeat music. (currently The Kooks)
Basically, it's a party in here and Mark and Pete seem to be in their element. The objective is to make more retail space for all the cool new stock we got in. (WESC, Gravis, Analog, SPY Optic...and ladies look out for some sassy clothes from Sessun) So far it's looking like the job will be done by the end of week. We might officially be competing with The Laden Showroom in size, and we've got the best coffee on Brick Lane, that's a pretty good combination...but with these boys you have to wonder....what's next???

BLACK GOLD : Why to drink Fairtrade Coffee

We were interested to hear of this documentary film about Ethiopian coffee farmers. We intend to see it as soon as it comes out and encourage you to do the same!

LCB Surf Store and Coffee Shop proudly serve only FAIRTRADE coffee. We believe in Fairtrade products and choose them whenever possible. Currently our Coffee and Sugars are always fairtrade. Growing up on a farm, we know it's hard work and believe these farmers should be well compensated for the delicious coffee we love to enjoy!

Our coffee beans are roasted in London and provided to us by Tea and Coffee Plant, who also supply our large range of ORGANIC herbal and traditional breakfast and earl grey teas.

Our milk is always ORGANIC. The cows are not treated with any antibiotics or hormones and special attention is paid to maintaing high welfare standards. For those who don't drink milk, we offer the option of SOY milk made from non-GM soya beans which ARE NOT harvested in the rainforest.

All that goodness and the coffee tastes super good...so you're treating yourself guilt free!
